One point I've seen made is that a glorified container ship for drones doesn't 'fly the flag' or 'project force' the way that an aircraft carrier with a full carrier air wing can. I think the days of manned aircraft are somewhat limited. A lot is being done in a modern aircraft to support a human in the plane, and that all costs money and increases size and weight.
