Tom LeykisSunny today and getting up to 70! Nice, and good for the one remaining head of romaine lettuce in the patch - there were two. Something munched the other one.
The plantation is looking great, and the wife potted a bunch of flowers yesterday, so I may hook up some more drip system for them.
Fresh blueberry muffins!!!
One week until visitors arrive!!!
Have a wonderful day!!!

Oh, yeah. Screens protect the lettuce from birds. They work on hungry squirrels too. It's the way AG goes around here. Try not to be mean those who have never planted a seed. They lash out at things they don't know.

What do you reckon got to the Romaine?

There were only 2 heads to begin with. I believe it was the heat that got to one, while the other was under a wet towel. That's the thing about lettuce here - there's the heat risk. In San Francisco it was never a problem - it seldom gets that hot.
While I gardened a bit on our tiny SF back yard, the amount of space I now have to plant on is comparatively ENORMOUS! It's been a real, fun, learning curve!

Tom LeykisYUM!!!! I found a nice rack of lamb to prepare for dinner tonight!!! AND an great big artichoke to boot!! What a treat for a coolish evening!! I can break out the Mexican Mayo, which comes charged with lime!!
Livin good in the 'hood!!!!
........................................................................
Tom LeykisThe lamb rib rack is in the oven and the GIANT artichoke is steaming away! I even got a nice NAP in, while they were painting away!!

IDAHO TRANSLATION SERVICE:
Rack of lamb: Roadkill of unknown species, possibly coyote.
Artichoke: Random vegetation gathered from the roadside.
Mexican mayo: Better not to know.
........................................................................
Tom LeykisThat was ONE DELIGHTFUL DINNER!!! The rack came out PERFECT as did the artichoke. There's enough lamb left for another light meal. That makes it pretty economical!!
