Post anything about dogs here.

One of my dogs cannot be trusted off leash. If something comes along that is intensely interesting, its as if she goes deaf and cannot hear me. I am not sure how to train her to respond since high value snacks don't work (since she acts deaf). I am afraid something of intense interest would happen in the middle of a street, so I can't let her off leash.

Boston Terrier. Intelligent, but very distractible.
For most distractions, "Come" is good enough since we've trained her on that with high value treats. But the last time we put her off leash in a park, she decided some guy standing on the basketball court 200 feet way was irresistably interesting and simply did not hear our yells.

Thank you.
But that dog in the video is sooooo chill compared to my dogs. Despite extensive training they still get extremely excited and tug at the leash. So tricking them into thinking that the leash is still attached is not going to work be because they will try pulling and see that its not attached.

GameraI have a high-end pointing lab, complete with AKC registration. Before you ask, he's trained for Pheasant, Quail, & Duck. On leash, he could drag you down the road.

I pull the leash and pick the front legs off the ground. That worked on my pit bulls and other large dogs that I've worked with. I aim to train the dogs not to pull on the leash, unless I'm muttboarding.

I have a reversable harness on him, which can be reversed into no-pull. Usually, that's enough.
If he's out of control, I have a shock collar that's used in the field. "Buzz" is enough to get his attention.

The buzz usually is enough.
I'm, getting a Cane Corso, probably not recommended for dog parks.
