Funny how gerrymandering is legal and cool in red states but suddenly becomes unconstitutional and wrong in blue ones.

Yes. It’s wrong to be racist & draw district lines to sort voters by skin color. The sooner this is corrected the better.
Iowa is an ideal example: it is chopped up into districts with straight lines by an impartial panel not allowed to use demographic maps. Not allowed to carve up counties trying to lasso streets of blacks into a district. Almost an even grid.

The issue is that there are federal gerrymandering obligations (few anymore) and some states have their own (it varies).
This was not a federal court ruling on federal matters. This was a state court ruling on state matters.

I saw the map dems were trying to push through: each new blue district was a mass of southern country goodness, each one connected to a sliver of Fairfax with a string. The most ridiculous map ever. Literally injecting a sliver of concentrated super lib into deep deep Dixie. No wonder Virginians were furious & court said nope.

Virginia’s shocking attempt to steal seats backfired bigly. At the same time VA was pulling this shyt there was a LOT of pressure on neighboring state MD to get rid of their 1 (of 8) red congressional districts by injecting a slice of Baltimore City into that area. Super libs were fired up about getting rid of MDs last red district, but cooler heads prevailed saying it was a bad idea, it would work of course but the backlash would be intense. Redneck MD would not take a slice of BBC from Baltimore and turn blue without a fight. So MD refused, but VA plowed ahead to FAFO.
This couldn’t have ended worse for libs.

Turns out rural VA (which is very very traditional and very Dixie) would not take in injections of alien lib NoVa, injections of Asians & illegals & crazy white liberals was not gonna fly in Lynchburg etc. Like different planets.
