I Ordered Some Old Tupperware From eBay. OLD TUPPERWARE!

They don't make the good stuff anymore: stuff made from polycarbonate.

For 20 years, probably, we have had these two large (8 cup) bowls that I like to use. But I got frustrated about something and tossed one of the bowls into the sink pretty hard and it cracked at the bottom. I could probably get by with just one, but it would be less than ideal. So, I shopped all around for a replacement and found the exact same containers on eBay in supposedly new condition.

They arrive today, so we will see what shows up.

And, if you are wondering about the lifetime Tupperware warranty, well it doesn't exist anymore. It is only 10 years now.

I prefer the Pyrex containers, even though their lids aren't particularly durable.

We have some Pyrex, but I don't use that for storage and or serving. Usually reserve that for baking / mixing.

That old polycarbonate releases significant amounts of bisphenol-a (not surprising, since that's the monomer it's made from) - that was one of the reasons it was phased out for a lot of food applications. Sure, there is a fair amount of controversy about just how bad BPA actually is for you - but it's still worth being aware of.

Absolutely not a concern to me in any way, shape, or form.

Same thing with microplastics.

It's just stupid shyt to worry the low brow masses.

You probably have a 500,000x greater chance to die from a car accident than from BPA in polycarbonate.
