Boomers do it because they think everybody in the world is there to serve and adore them. They do not believe they need to be considerate of anybody else's feelings or comfort.

I grew up with party lines. I learned FORTRAN 66 in college. I've worked in semiconductors and aerospace.
I don't understand the phone/app obsession of the current generation.
