the price is what the market says it is. and at current pace they will end up at $0 sooner or later shrug

It costs ~ $1,300 to mine and refine an ounce of gold. It's around $24 for an oz of silver.  That would seem to be a lower boundary on price.

Silver has many industrial uses, so it will always have industrial value.

Gold has many fewer uses, but it is beautiful and fairly rare.
