Took a COQ10 supplement for no reason for 12+ years. Don’t remember why. It smelled kinda good & was sold in big bottles from Costco so I went with it.

It shows up in my Amazon “buy again” list as purchased 9 times, before I started just buying it at Costco. I vaguely remember hearing it was good for “heart health” whatever that means, but never had heart issues & really don’t remember why I started. Same with fish oil = same dose/ same brand for  I am consistently for even longer, 17+ years.

I put all my vitamins in a pill sorter and don’t think about it.
But got an alert this winter that my Vitamin D level was way too high, that it was probably a lab mistake, but to stop the Vitamin D anyway for awhile.

So when stopping the vitamin D took a critical look at the other supplements COQ10 and fish oil, decided I needed a vacation from all that shyt, maybe it was all a very expensive waste and getting peed out, maybe it wouldn’t make a difference. Also stopped a prescription for Pepcid which is now OTC anyway and wasn’t sure if It was needed, a med vacation would let me know soon enough if any acid reflux came back.

Then forgot about it all because winter blizzards etc…

Yes I turned into gramps x 169 who needed to ‘rest’ from exhaustion after walking down 1 flight of stairs lol
Had to lay down lol Muscles hurt.
Cussed & swore I was never going to accidentally lose weight again because fuq this weakness, must be what aging feels like, must keep muscle at this age, “resting” fuqing sucks. THANKFULLY some excess faux-phlegm gathered in my throat and I knew right away it was acid reflux & to start taking Prevacid again, med vacation over. Spotted the bottles of COQ10 & fish oil I had also stopped. cluephone Thought could it be possible my extreme gramps fatigue and weakness came from stopping that daily fuqing COQ10 pill???

Went to google welcometocampidiot , started taking the COQ10 immediately, all fatigue and gramps stuff GONE in 2 days.

Amazing difference. Cleaned the whole house & did yard work. Going everywhere without resting. Muscle pains gone. Superman here joshua2 or at least not ready for a walker.
I was relatively young when started COQ10 & took it for no reason, had no idea it had been an energy supply as I aged. Without it I was cooked. Also started up the fish oil again, but that isn’t what is powering every cell in my body now.

Went down a rabbit hole of research.
Why did a fringe supplement start getting sold by the bucket in Costco to normies even though expensive?
Because statins. Statins deplete/kill natural COQ10, docs figured that out, started advising statin takers to take COQ10 supplements.
Soon drs put damn near all patients on statins, and the “bad side effects” were 169% from depleted COQ10, making the supplement mainstream.

So mostly get the fuq off statins, get yourself COQ10 supplements.
I was never on statins (told Dr no, never) but was still benefiting from COQ10 energy boost all these years.

Taking this stuff until I die.

Vitamin D is fat soluble so you don't piss it out every few days. It can build up in your fat.

I was taking (2) 5000 unit pills each day and my Vitamin D levels on my blood tests were normal but after talking to my doctor he convinced me I only need 5000 units each day. Vitamin D levels weren't all that different after that.

I take 5000 units a day of D w/ some K & A. Started this years ago after learning multivitamins w/ folic acid are poison & just to take the individual ones needed that you don’t get from food. I think the super high D level was likely a lab mistake but it prompted the vitamin vacation & stopping the COQ10.

I can easily give up fish oil and eat tuna subs from subway shrug
But you will have to pry COQ10 from my cold dead hands.

Never touch folic acid if you have the gene mutation MTHFR.
Something like 40% of the population has a version of it.

The US started adding folic acid to foods in 1998 (all flour, grains, bread, pasta, cereal etc) calling it “enriched” winner

But can’t pile on the tuna every day because too much mercury nowadays

Always pay extra for “pharmaceutical grade” fish oil that takes all the mercury out.
