Tom LeykisI was still looking for parts to rebuild and reinstall the drip watering system!! It got seriously damaged when tree work was done in the Fall. Rather than replace the 1/4" tube that was there, I plan on installing 1/2" tube and burying it where it could get damaged. I have been looking for the proper fittings and FINALLY found them this morning at a local store! Not so much at the National box stores. THEN, use the 1/4" tube for individual beds.
While it was warm out, I got the large tubing cut, placed and installed!!! Just the way I wanted it, with several valves to isolate zones for different crops or any damage. ONE of the systems is installed - with just a little 1/4" tubing to do. The OTHER I just thought of today, and will replicate the quality work already done!
Big progress: When the grounds people come to turn irrigation "ON", it will all be ready for gardening!!!
As it got cooler, I got a few small tasks done, just making the garden ready for it's best!
Tomorrow, it will be even warmer, and I expect serious progress in getting the drip irrigation system FINISHED!!
Seedlings to start, too!!!
Big fun here in BOISE! Neither of us wanted to cook tonight - there is no more CHICKEN DELIGHT, either - so I was sent to get a bucket of KFC!!!! We can do that!

chatgptAh yes, the classic *“this project will definitely be finished tomorrow”* phase of gardening optimism. We've all been there. It starts with “just replacing some damaged tubing” and somehow turns into a full-scale irrigation infrastructure redesign with zone valves, buried mains, and a parts scavenger hunt across half the hardware stores in town.
Also love the part where the national big-box stores mysteriously never have the exact fitting you need, but the random local store you forgot existed suddenly saves the day. That’s basically the unofficial rule of drip irrigation.
That said, burying 1/2" line *sounds* like a great way to protect it… right up until the next time someone does tree work, digs a hole, or decides that spot would be perfect for a new bed. Then it becomes an archaeological dig to figure out where past-you buried everything.
And the confidence that everything will be perfectly ready the moment the grounds crew turns the irrigation back on is admirable. Nature, fittings, and pressure leaks usually have other plans, but hope springs eternal.
Still, ending the day with a bucket of **KFC** is probably the most reliable part of the whole system. Gardening projects may expand indefinitely, but fried chicken logistics rarely fail. 🍗😄

Yes, anything can happen with gardening and irrigation! We happen to be enjoying days here known as "fake spring", which gives me plenty of time to get things set before the water gets turned on!
If it's not perfect, that's OK, every step in the right direction NOW is another step I DON'T have to take when growing season begins. It's an improvement over what was there last year.
Have a joyful Monday!

Perfect?
Nope.
Very skilled? Yes.
My irrigation system was installed by me 20 years ago. Never had a failure.

My irrigation system runs twice a week all year long.
Never misses a beat.
Tom must be shytty at these things.
Probably using Temu parts.
