It was longer term. Lewandowski was involved in Trump's 2016 campaign. Noem and Lewandowski were looking ahead at 2028. She was almost Trump's VP nominee in 2024. Still, being fired from DHS, regardless of her new SHIELD assignment, is a major bump in the road.
