Most of you will never know what that is like.

I was 10.5% (according to a body composition scale) eight or nine months ago. Might be closer to 15%, now.

Those scales are completely incapable of measuring body fat in any meaningful way. You need to use scale weight + measuring tape or calipers.
I have a scale like that and my body fat changes by 5% after I hit the bathroom. That's not the way fat works.
10.5% is unlikely at 50+. It implies virtually no visible fat, with very clearly defined abs etc. It's generally not sustainable.

Your metrics are pretty close, though.
Your BMI is about 80 and you're probably around 70% body fat. Given your sedentary lifestyle, it seems reasonable to assume you have about 150lbs of lean mass and the rest is fat.

I should add that I walk every day (now)
2 miles, 3.4 miles, or 6.2 miles depending on my mood

There is no way on Earth you have 10% body fat at 52 unless you are fitness model-level lean, which I call bullshyt on at 186lbs with your height.

I was at 224 pounds until Oct 30th 2024.
As I lay on the floor having the first of 5 LAD heart attacks, (widowmakers)
I gave it some thought and decided I didnt want to die that way specifically.
I decided to get rid of my belly and generally get fit.
So, I walk every day. Even when cold, raining, and cold raining.
I dont walk on a treadmill or nice smooth road.
I walk in a field with tall grass so I am forced to raise my feet high.
My cardiologist explained it to me like this after I said I walk all day long :
Yeah you walk 100 steps then sit down. Or you walk 20 steps to the fidge and then you sit down.
Maybe you walk 200 steps and then you sit down.
If you want to be healthy, you need to walk 30 minutes at a time minimum to exercise your heart.
If you want to live longer, you need to put in more effort than that.
Which part of my story do you specifically call bullshyt on?

Good for you for getting into shape, but your body fat is much higher than 10%, in all probability. Do you have defined and separated, not just flat, abs?

That is likely your body's 'natural' weight.

Flat but starting to become defined.
Looking better at 52 than I did at 22 but I have to work my ass off to do it.
