> Former Sen. Ben Sasse reveals pancreatic cancer diagnosis: "Death sentence"

Ben Sasse, the former Republican senator for Nebraska, announced on Tuesday he is dying of pancreatic cancer.

“This is a tough note to write, but since a bunch of you have started to suspect something, I’ll cut to the chase: Last week I was diagnosed with metastasized, stage-four pancreatic cancer, and am gonna die,” Sasse, 53, wrote in a post on X. “Advanced pancreatic is nasty stuff; it’s a death sentence. But I already had a death sentence before last week too — we all do.”

Nebraska Republican Senator Deb Fischer, who served alongside Sasse in the senate, wrote in a post on X she was “saddened” by the news and added that, “I know he will face this difficult challenge anchored in his strong Christian faith and bolstered by the love of family and friends.” She was one of many lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to express their sadness and offer words of support.
