Re: I Own Those Headphones

Product idea - binaural rig, 3d printed and an app to profile any headphones, not just fancy ones, as well as using the rig to create binaural space profiles and then an ai assisted process to create artificial spaces.

Get to work.

If you don't own Warwick's, you might as well use WalMart earbuds.

Typically studios have shyt headphones because musicians (drummers in particular) beat the crap out of them during sessions.  Vic Firth is the headphone of choice in most studios because they are good and they are cheap

Used to own those - upgraded to Beyerdynamic DT 1770 Pro MKII. Great for studio monitoring and music listening.

Amazon sells some knockoff 711 clone couplers.

No B&K 5128 though.

Those headphone aren’t particularly “good” from a target curve perspective. But they are decent, consistent, comfortable, and take a beating.

I almost bought those since I wanted something more stereotypically “beyer bright” but then I read the MkII aren’t that bright. I have a DT990 Pro X in my Amazon cart. They are supposed to scream at you. But I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

I've done several sessions with VF phones.  They key thing is that they stay on your head and in place while playing. All I usually need to hear is a guide vocal , scratch guitar and a click.  Sound quality is dealt with later

Ah. Those are those $38,000 Golden Sound edition electrostatics. It’s really an entire system, not just the headphones. The measure well and Cameron (Golden Sound) is very respected even though he uses a lot of “woo woo” speak in his reviews.

You don’t own these but it would be cool if you did. Though you can get similar sound quality for 1/100th the price. At some point in this hobby you are buying for things beyond just FR / SQ.
