No, unemployment benefits are not subsidized by the government. Instead, they are funded by taxes paid by employers, through both federal and state payroll taxes, known as the Federal Unemployment Tax Act (FUTA) and State Unemployment Tax Acts (SUTA).

I did not say unemployment because it is based on work history.
