Last week, three new windows went into our house, on the north side. That is the living room, dining room, den and kitchen.
The dining, living and kitchen windows were replaced, leaving 3 den windows and a sliding door as is. There are NO blinds or shades on any of the new windows. The north side of the house is noticeably warmer, so the wife turns the thermostat down, making the bedrooms COOLER!!!
I'm sure we will proceed with phase 2 - 2 new slider doors - pretty soon!
Well worth it, even replacing 1978 double pane windows!
It's similar to when we replaced our 1927 single pane windows with modern double pane ones in 2006 or so.
Highly recommended! Wait until we get blinds on the new windows!!

Look at PELLA windows - it's a very competitive business and there are some outright FRAUDS out there. This is our second house with them.

Previous owner replaced beautiful old wood windows with hideous bright white clad eyesores, with the especially awful abomination of plastic “grilles between the glass” that I’m forced to look thru and cannot be removed until I throw a rock at it. The only reason these windows aren’t shytty vinyl is those weren’t around much in the late 1990s. It sucks so bad but OCD says I have to replace these Section 8 looking windows next
